Everything doesn’t have to be black and white…

I cleaned and rearranged my closet last weekend to see if I had any colorful hidden gems because I found that my daily wardrobe consisted of either black or denim. Outside of a few printed scarfs and neon clutches my closet looked pretty *blah*. So of course I went where all of America goes when they need inspiration…the internet…lol. I found a few celebrities who added color to their outfits and I changed the colors to black or white just so I could see how color can change the whole look of your outfit. My Photoshop skills might be a little suspect but take a look…

Cameron Diaz wore a white Oscar De la Renta dress when she received her star on the Walk of Fame. I like how she added her pop of color with the red belt and red shoes. It totally adds personality to dress and it matches her mood. So i changed the accessories to black. The lack and white is not bad but it’s not as exciting.

Aubrey O’Day wore this cobalt blue Temperley London dress to the “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” LA premiere and she definitely stood out on the red carpet. This is a great color for her and it brings out the color in her eyes. When I changed it to black, she just looked normal

Blake Lively was one of my favorites at the CFDA Awards. This fuschia Michael Kors strapless dress looks amazing on her and I couldn’t imagine it being in any other color except maybe turquoise. So I tried it in white. Ok I know it looks a little silverish white but lets pretend :) . It doesn’t hold a candle to the fuschia.

Jennifer Love Hewitt is such a girly girl and I love that about her. She was recently spotted going to a Bar Mitzvah in Encino wearing a brown dress. She added a baby blue hat that added a small pop of color but worked so well with her outfit. Here she is with the baby blue hat and if she had worn a hat that matched her dress.

Elena Ballesteros attended the “Los Abrazos Rotos” premiere in Madrid, Spain in the simplest, yet hottest outfit. She wore a Chanel jacket with a white tee, leather legging and black heels. Her red clutch really brought out the outfit. I changed the clutch to gray (black was blending in too much with the leggings and background) and immediately noticed the muted change.

Even if you’rethe most neutral chick on the planet, don’t be afraid to add some color to your outfits. Try bold scarves, statement jewelry, bright colored shoes or eye catching purses. It will add add personality and originality to otherwise plain-jane outfits.
